One person I know has been trying to learn Illustrator the last couple of months...I'm not very helpful trying to explain things verbally, so I thought this might help...of course I'm hoping this'll help anyone interested.
Think of it as my way of thanking you guys for sticking around so long [four years, geez]....if there's any other 'How-To's you might be interested in, let me know and I'll see if I can help or not.
Forgive any typos...knowing me I'm sure there's a few.
And I have no idea why I started drawing Darth Maul...weird whim I guess.
>< I always find the pencil tool so hard to use... I have to go over them so many times before I get the lines I want. Any tips...? :begs:
By the way, doesn't it bother you to have the fill on while outlining? Doesn't it obscure bits of your picture?

Uh...pencil tool. I forgot to mention it, but I drew this using my tablet, so if your trying to do this with a mouse, I apologize for not mentioning it before.
Otherwise...there is a way to change the settings on the pencil tool. Double click on the icon for the tool and a window called PENCIL TOOL PREFERENCES well come up...play with those dials until the tool does what you want.
As for the fill...I'm not exactly sure what you mean here. All my outlines are just black-filled shapes and I've been working this way for about four years...so I think the answer is no, I've yet to notice them covering up something I wanted.
I dunno... I mean, if you don't close off the shapes the program kinda draws a line from your last point to the first and fills all the stuff between the lines right? It always bugs me... -shrug-
